Ciacco
Ciacco is a poet whose real name is Giacomo. Ciacco is actually a derogatory comment relating to a "pig" or "hog" in the Florentine dialect of Dante's time. Dante purposely calls him a pig for his gluttony and dislike of Florentines since he was banished from their society. Ciacco is a glutton; thus, he is placed in Circle 3 of Dante's journey through the Inferno. In his life, Ciacco is well respected in Florentine society for his agreeableness and eloquence although he was a glutton like many other Florentines. There is very little information about the life of Ciacco, but we have two accounts of his personality from Florentine citizens Boccaccio and Benvenuto.
